Although all ice crystals have hexagonal geometry, an infinite number of random events cause them to freeze in a never-ending variety of forms. Without the water drop in the picture, one could easily believe that this was a microphotograph of crystalline metal. The early-morning sun makes the scene appear as if it was in black and white.
